Opponent: Narangbah
It was so good to finally be back at the Kennel, and it was even better to be cheered on by so many supporters for our first home game.
Hounds kicked off and immediately applied pressure with committed and relentless defence, keeping Narangbah in their own half for the first 10 minutes of the game. Our much improved attack swung into action with Quinnie and then Liv scoring on opposite sides of the field.
To Narangbahs credit they dug deep and fought back hard to grab a nifty 4 pointer to take the scores to 8-4 at halftime.
A few costly mistakes had us on our own line for a lengthy period of hte 2nd half. But DGITY shone through – repelling attacking raid after attacking raid. Then in the hot sun, out of breath, Raffy burst through the middle to run the longest 70 metres of her life !
Re-energised, the Hounds lifted, and Rona put on her own long range solo effort which sealed the game and had the crowd on its feet.
A great first win for the year on the back of strong defence and patient attack. WOOF WOOF
