Normanby RLFC are proud to announce 2017 will be the inaugural year of our Open Women’s Team.

With the team being run through UQ last season, the girls are expected to hit the ground running.

Hounds player Belynda Cheyne (pictured left), stated “I think it will be really good for the girls, especially those returning from last season, I am excited to see how this all plays out”

“Women’s Rugby League is growing day by day, and Normanby are excited to be a part of the development and promotion of the female game” stated Hounds President, Mitchell Chambers. “We hope this announcement will also encourage young girls to take up Rugby League through our junior club Normanby-Centenary, as there is now a pathway for them into senior football and hopefully beyond”.

Dynamic Five-Eighth Sinead Kelly (pictured right) backed up Belynda’s comments by adding “I, like many of the girls on the team are grateful to be a part of such and established club like the Hounds. We are eager to get out on the field and show the Hounds supporters what women rugby league players can do”.

The Hounds are currently seeking a coach for the women’s team please contact the club to express your interest by emailing to info@houndsrlfc.com with the subject heading “Women’s Coach”

The Women’s season is scheduled to kick off in early April, the details will be posted as they become available.
