The Hounds came away with a hard-fought 18–16 victory over Greenbank Raiders in a tight contest that went right down to the wire.
Both teams were willing to roll up their sleeves and battle through the middle, with field position and defence playing a major role throughout the game. The Hounds showed plenty of resilience when the pressure was on, turning away multiple attacking raids and staying composed in key moments.
Euwanae Mairu was outstanding for the Hounds, leading the way with his defensive efforts and relentless ruck speed. His work rate around the middle of the field helped set the tone for the team and kept Greenbank on the back foot for much of the game.
Out on the edges, Herman and Jesse Walker both had strong performances. Their defence was solid throughout the afternoon, while their efforts with the ball helped create opportunities whenever the Hounds shifted play wide.
It wasn’t a perfect performance, but the boys showed plenty of character to grind out the result. In a game where every point mattered, the Hounds stuck together and did enough to secure a valuable 18–16 win.
